Christmas 2020, I wrote a little round up of Nintendo Switch Games to get you started. If you’ve not read it yet – go give it a read, I’ll be here.
They are great games, but a little… Mario heavy.
What if you have a Nintendo Switch, but wanting to install something less Mario? Here are few to try out.
Warning. Some of these game may involve violence, “interesting” words, nudity, and emotions. (Not all at the same time)
Doom
YES DOOM!
You know Doom. That classic game from the 90’s. And that is here as well.. but yes. The Nintendo Switch does have the more upto date Doom games as well!
And yes. Graphic wise… they are a little more… realistic then they were 20 years ago…
There is also a remastered version of Quake on the Switch now as well…
Firewatch
I’m going to steal some words from the Steam Webpage for this…
The year is 1989. You are a man named Henry who has retreated from his messy life to work as a fire lookout in the Wyoming wilderness. Perched high atop a mountain, it’s your job to look for smoke and keep the wilderness safe. An especially hot, dry summer has everyone on edge. Your supervisor Delilah is available to you at all times over a small, handheld radio—your only contact with the world you’ve left behind. But when something strange draws you out of your lookout tower and into the forest, you’ll explore a wild and unknown environment, facing questions and making choices that can build or destroy the only meaningful relationship you have.
A Note: Firewatch is a video game about adults having adult conversations about adult things. If you plan on playing with a younger gamer, that might be good to know going in.
Stardew Valley.
Once one visits Stardew valley.
Thats where you find your peace. (Maybe not in the mines)
And fish. Lots of fish.
Check out more about it here.
Old Mans Journey
No gif for this.
But this is a simple simple puzzle game, where you simply have to line up the platforms to enable to the “Old Man” to complete his journey.
The key behind this game is the story, why is he going on this journey? And what led him to where he is now?
Child of Light
I mean, look at it!
Is this game a work of art?
Is it a role playing platformer?
Is it a meditation on life, death, grief, and hope?
Could it be all those things, and regularly cheap on the Switch store?
Possibly.
Thats my list for now, but I should also quickly mention, Zelda Breath of The Wild, Skyrim, Hades, Florence, and Ghostbusters.
Is there there any you would add?
