Trying The BioBand Sleep Tracker

Throughout this week I’m working through the ultimate Men’s Health kit from TENA Men, which contains a new challenge each day this week to help me try… and I guess be a little healthier then I currently am.

Today’s challenge is the following:

Getting in to shape and fitting in a weekly exercise regime can be tough, especially for people with a busy lifestyle. However, keeping active is vital for a healthy body, whether you choose to go for a long run or bike ride. Dr Hilary recommends 150 minutes of aerobic activity, such as cycling or fast walking, per week as well as two days of strength exercises that work all the major muscles.

Ensure you make the most of every workout by using a smartwatch that tracks your steps and monitors your heartrate to help you keep tabs on your exercise routine and help you improve further.

I guess when I find it hard to motivate myself to do something, making the said “something” a game can help. I’m a fan of using todoist to hold my task list at work as it give me a score that mirrors how productive I am… or not. The BioBand Sleep Tracker has a similar affect in that it watches what I do, and simply by seeing how many steps I’ve taken so far, I feel a little more motivated to take a few more steps, and walk that extra amount.

While this smartwatch is meant to be fairly basic, I do have a few bones to pick. The instructions that came with the band could be a little more in depth, and the app it gave me instructions to download originally wasn’t great. Thankfully once I worked out that

the app (not helped by its rubbish use of English), was trying to get me to download another app instead, things seemed to improve, and the overall experience was generally more stable.

In general this is quite a compact little device, with various modes, alarms, and call / message notifications if you have and Android phone. (Apple – Why cant you play nice???)

If only the instructions were better.

The Bioband Sleep Tracker is part of the Men’s Health kit and has been supplied for free by TENA Men, for the purposes of blogging about Men’s Health Week. All my opinions are my own – and not borrowed from elsewhere.
